if you dont think its worth 15k, please dont call.

Purchased this boat to rebuild. However an impending knee replacement, crossing my 70 th birthday and other issues force me to give up my project. I have over 35k on this boat between purchase, transport, crane, stands, etc.

Look for Beneteau first 405. You wont find many and all between 50 and 65k for this year model.

This is my 4th boat refit and fully aware of the needs of the project however health trumps all plans.
My last refit was a HUNTER 37. Cherubini. See it at

37 cherubini hunter sailboat sold

Sold it to upgrade to a newer boat.

The Boat:
Not a marina queen. This boat is very fast and has been sailed hard and non stop. Has crossed the Atlantic 3 times. Has visited most of the Caribbean and south american coast.
This boat we built in France and sold to a German family. It cruised the Med for about 10 years and then sailed to the US. The owner secured an agent in Fort Lauderdale and paid the US import duty. The boat was sold to an English couple who kept it in the US and used it in the Caribbean for the next ten years. The name of the boat at that time was flying cloud.

In 2011 the boat was sold in Charleston South Carolina to a Brazilian gentleman. The boat was renamed Rosa dos Ventos. He sailed to the Azores, the cape Verde Islands, the Canary Islands and back to Brazil. The boat spent the hurricane seasons in Trinidad and Tobago. It sailed extensively the coast of Brazil, Surinam, venezuela, abc islands. Due to health reasons it was put for sale in 2015 in Trinidad.

In 2015 in French/Belgian gentleman purchase the boat in Trinidad and had it surveyed. He sailed
to the US making stops in over 20 islands including Cuba. They both ended up in Charleston South Carolina this summer of 2016. At that time the owner had to fly back to Europe and put the boat up for sale on eBay.

Refit in Trinidad before departure.

Engine
The Perkins engine runs great but leaks oil as usual. Checked every morning and added some once a week after many hours of waterway motoring.
Engine smokes when cold. Not from oil but high pressure pump.
Engine received a rebuilt kit 900 hours ago. Had planed to have shop rebuild for 4k complete. Also looked at new chinese perkins for 3200.00.

The boat is presently stripped down to the fiberglass. All woodwork is out of it. Most is sanded and ready for varnish. All ceiling panels were removed as the vinyl was loose. All ceiling panels were epoxied to make them waterproof and recovered with sailrite vinyl. New led lights installed. Have enough vinyl to cover all ceilings and walls as needed. Have 4 gallons of extra epoxy for future work.
New polycarbonate on hand for portholes and also new poly for all hatches just received.
All new through hulls on hand, new scanvik sink and faucet for forward cabin on hand.

Purchased 8 new galvanized boat stands @ 1,500.00 . They will go with the boat. You will need them if you are going to work on it. Rolling ladder stays as it belongs to shop.

This is a major project. Its well on its way. You finish it. Not for dreamers. Please, only consider it if you have the means and knowledge to see it through. Must also have a permission letter from the wife. Lol.

PS.   Please do not ask for more pictures as I dont have anymore at this time. You can see by the pics that it is a complete gut job and all systems need attention, rebuild or replace. This is a one to two year project and not for the novice or faint of heart. You are not going sailing next week.
I am amazed at the stupid emails I have received so far. Please dont waiste my time. I am a general contractor building 3 houses and working 7 days a week. I dont have time for dreamers.
